It Started With a Quiet Moment…

and it became something to be shared.

For most of my life, I found structure, discipline, and identity through competitive volleyball. As an athlete, I learned how to perform under pressure, trust the process, and to commit fully to something I cared about. Art existed in a completely different world, I never imagined it could connect to athletics. When injuries unexpectedly changed the future I had built around volleyball, I found myself turning to creativity in a new way. Through art, I discovered not only a way to reconnect with myself, but also a way to connect with others dealing with pressure, uncertainty, change and expectations of their own. That realization became the foundation of The Between the Lines Project. I created it to bridge the divide between achievement-driven environments and creative self-expression. Through art kits, fundraising events, and community partnerships, The Between the Lines Project creates spaces where teenagers can feel grounded, seen, and free to express who they are beyond performance or expectation. My hope is that this organization becomes proof that ambition and empathy, discipline and creativity, achievement and well-being were never meant to exist in separate worlds.

As a competitive gymnast, I’ve grown up balancing the pressure of athletics, school, social, and academic expectations, and the constant drive to improve. Gymnastics taught me discipline, resilience, and perseverance, but it also showed me the importance of slowing down and reconnecting with yourself. I believe in kindness, in pushing yourself further than you think you can go, and in learning to be gentle with yourself along the way. I think teens should celebrate their successes, learn from their losses, and still be excited for new opportunities ahead. I also believe quiet moments matter. They give us the chance to regroup, reflect, and keep moving forward with confidence. Through The Between the Lines Project, I hope to give teens spaces where they can feel inspired, supported, and reminded that growth often happens unexpectedly in the moments between the lines of everyday life.
